Meal Idea Breakfast #1

Biscuits and Gravy Well Sort of!

This one was on my mind for sometime. I had to build up the nerve to actually try it. It's not hard, really easy if you think about it. Non fat dry milk! that's the key. so with a little playing around to get all the measurements right and i got it. To be honest i was a tad reluctant to try it, I love Milk!! DRY MILK? It worked out fine. EM is taste testing this as i type. We both agree for camp food this is pretty good. What about the meat? i love sausage, no secret on that front. This recipe however is using Dried Beef. *Important note* Dried beef is very salty, which is bad. Really bad if you outside camping. Why? glad you asked, the more sodium your bad has the water it will need to remove it from your body, this results in dehydration if your not careful. Not a problem, Here is a secret. take the beef and soak it in fresh clean water for 30 min. the sodium is dissolved into the water and the salt taste is gone!

1 4.5 oz Dried Beef
1/3 cup non fat dried milk
2 Tablespoons "Wondra"
1 cup cold water

Add all ingredients to a pan head to thicken, salt and pepper to taste pour over bread. Yummy!

Meal Idea #1 Dinner

Smoked Salmon and Wild rice!!

I say Yum!! So how is this gonna happen. Well this is an easy one, i have found Uncle Ben's ready rice. YES it is a microwavable product but it does have skillet instructions too. They also have 16 varieties, wild rice may not be the finale decision. The Salmon was a funny story, i got it at the Seattle Airport. I was standing in one of the shops waiting on one of my many flights, looking for a book to read. I have always said i sure would like try try those Salmon Fillets, DING!!! IDEA!!!! You can find smoked Salmon in most foods stores with the canned Tuna. This salmon is a smoke and packed product so no refrigeration is need till after opening and seeing how we plan on eating it all we won't worry about that.

Uncle Ben's ready rice (any food store)
Pacific Alaska Smoked Salmon (any store in the Seattle's SEATAC airport)

Add rice to a skilled and 2 T. of water (per Pack) and stir to heat for 6 min. place Salmon fillet on top of the rice and continue heating for 6 min. or until heated. salmon Package should have juices in it from the Salmon so we will use that to drizzle over the fish.

The Rules

The rules are simple be small, easy, light and tasty. That seems easy to do?! well here we go. The idea is simple, feed 3 grown men in the wilderness. It has to be light because we have a weight limit for the jackass. No that is not Jerry. we have a mule to haul 140lbs. of equipment, the rest is on us. It has to be non-perishable because Larry won't carry the frig, it has to be easy because I'm not spending all day cooking and cleaning, AND it has to be good because I'll have it no other way. So my idea is to make 6 meals, 3 a day. My Idea is to have all the meals from everyday supermarket purchases. This should be fun! i will include all ingredients, where they were purchased, and how to prep the meal. Larry Love's the idea because last time he went they ate beef-a-Ronni all week. NO THANK YOU!! Enjoy and as always feel free to leave comments on the meals.
